The nun who accused Bishop Franco Mullakkal of rape has now written a complaint to the Vatican. The letter is addressed to Giambattista Diquattro, the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, who is an ambassador of the Pope.

In a 7-page letter (see below), the nun has alleged that the bishop is using “his political power and money” to bury her case, and requested for the Vatican’s immediate intervention.

“I write this letter as a victim of sexual abuse who is seeking justice,” reads the nun’s letter, as she goes on to detail her plight.

In the letter, the nun wrote that she was sexually exploited by Bishop Franco Mullakkal from 2014 to 2016.

She listed all the people she approached for help, including the Pope and the Apostolic Nuncio, who haven’t helped her yet.

She has alleged in the letter that the bishop is “a predator”, and that he has gone after several sisters, but no action has ever been taken against him.

“Even though we filed a case against Bishop Franco more than two months ago and the investigating agency is convinced of the proofs they have, they are not able to arrest the bishop because of his political and economic power.” – Nun’s Letter

Appealing to the Church authorities, the nun ended the letter seeking the pope’s representative’s intervention in the case. – India Today, 11 Sept. 2018
